Why Drug Wars?

The way I see the war on drugs is a war that is fought from family to family and usually involves concerned parents fighting to keep their children from succumbing to living a life of an addict or to end up dead. The Drug Wars isn't about laws, cops and criminals even though there are many of all three. The Drug Wars is about protecting our children.

As the actor Carol O’Connor once said after his son Hugh died in a drug related incident, “Do anything you can to get between your child and drugs.” A lesson to learn before it is too late, because once they are gone, you can't get a do-over.

It is common knowledge that if someone doesn't use drugs or alcohol until they reach approximately the age of 21 they then there is a good chance they will not become addicted to the substances they use. Of course there are exceptions like heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine.

The War on Drugs isn't about the legalities of marijuana vs alcohol because one is legal and the other isn't. It's all illegal if you are under 21 but the real question should be: "Why do you need to use either one?"

You may be wondering, “Who died and put me in charge of the Drug Wars?” Read my story and find out.
